Six Must-See Alfred Hitchcock Suspense Films
Alfred Hitchcock, even after death, is the king of the suspense film. His classic movies are still watched over and over again, generation after generation. Hitchcock made fifty three films in his career. Some are rightfully considered classic, while some are only remembered by true Hitchcock fans. What makes Hitchcock’s suspenseful films so great is that you find yourself at the edge of your seat, waiting anxiously for the next shoe to drop. Hitchcock didn’t mess with the gore that you find in films inspired by his works. Instead, he left some things to the imagination, which make his movies even more thrilling to watch.
In my opinion, if you were to only watch six Alfred Hitchcock movies in your life, you must see Rear Window, North By Northwest, The Birds, Psycho, Vertigo and Dial M For Murder. They are all suspenseful, filled with thrills and keep you glued till the end. 1954′s Rear Window is about an injured man who enjoys spying on the neighbors in his neighboring apartment complex with his binoculars. Once he witnesses a murder he becomes the one who is watched. In 1959′s North By Northwest Cary Grant’s character is mistaken as a government agent and finds himself running from the bad guys, for his life. 1963′s The Birds made, and still makes, people leery of large groups of birds. Even pet birds become killers in this film. 1960′s Psycho is the movie that made showers become unpopular in the 60′s. Because of this movie, Norman Bates is a household name. In 1958′s Vertigo Hitchcock embraces the fear of heights. James Stewart stars in this complex film full of twists and turns. Lastly, 1954′s Dial M For Murder is a film in which you can witness the perfect crime as a man attempts to murder his wife.
